Then when we went to watch Badminton one year we saw the saddles at the wow stand!!
That was the start! There were very few options to choose from nothing like today at all.
What I was really excited about was the fact that you could change the flaps from Jumping to Dressage as my event horse never moved the same in his dressage saddle!
That changed – and we won SA Champs in 2004!
Wow grew from then onwards.
I am now retired from Competition as at 2021 but competed to FEI 3* Eventing.

I have been riding horses since I was 3 years old and have been passionately involved with horse riding all my life. Eventing was my first love but I later became more inspired by dressage. After a grounding in pony club and riding club I went on to complete a HND in equine science and business studies.
I was fortunate to have had an education in classical dressage in my early 20’s. This opened my eyes to the correct biomechanics and the influences that correct training could have on a horses back.
This training system created significant problems with relation to saddle fitting. As the horses back and core strengthens the landscape of the horses back goes through significant changes, which in turn requires different saddles. Wow saddles really captured my imagination as the parts are all interchangeable and allow the saddle to adapt and change along with the horses back development. After using the saddles on my horses for a couple of years, I undertook the training and became a certified saddle fitter in 2014.
I also have my BHS Stage 3 coach & stage 4 care management & ride. I combine my teaching with saddle fitting and when I have the chance, I ride and compete on my own horses.

I am Alison Braithwaite, I live in Suffolk and cover East Anglia for work. I joined the WOW team of fitters in summer of 2014. I had a small break for 8 months at the beginning on 2018 because of the arrival of my son, Jacob. I then came back to work part time, now with Jacob at school now (doesn’t time fly!) I am back to working more or less full time, round school hours!!
My background in horses is my mum taught me to ride when I was young and then I went to a riding school. When I was 13 yrs old I got my first horse. I did Pony Club and local competition. I started a passion for Eventing in those years and I BE Evented Pre-novice and Novice in my late teens and early 20’s with my second horse, Gordon Bennett. Within that time I spent a year out in Australia and worked for 4 months on a Show Jumping yard and when I came back to the UK I went to Writtle College and obtained BSc (Hons) Equine Studies with Science. After my degree, I sadly broke my right leg very badly in a fall which put pay to me working with horses in a yard situation and hoping to compete professionally but it took me on a different path and I started to train as a Saddler in 1999 and over the years have Qualified as a Saddler by obtaining my City and Guilds in level 3 Bridle and Saddle Making. This subsequently led onto saddle fitting and I qualified with the Society of Master Saddlers as a Qualified Saddle Fitter in 2005.
My first introduction to WOW saddles was with a home bred mare called Carrie. She was incredibly difficult to fit with a jump saddle, as she had big loaded shoulders and was very short coupled. I felt like I was always sitting to far back once I had jumped her round a course of fences. I saw WOW saddles at Burghley and had a fitter out and didn’t look back. It completely changed how I felt about jumping her. It was one of the really early WOW saddles, as it had a resin seat!

My expertise in English saddles comes from my extensive studies in Germany. During my journeyman years I dove into the world of Western Saddles, learning to build them in Northern California.
In 2007, I started my own saddlery business and was introduced to WOW Saddles in 2010. At the beginning of 2011, I joined WOW Saddles as a certified saddle fitter, and as you can see today, I am still here. Why? Because WOW is the system I had always hoped for. Ive been actively involved with horses for 46 years. I represented Zimbabwe in 1991 and won the Pug Whitehead International Horse Trials for which I was awarded provincial colors. I won the South African Working Show Horse Championships in 2007 as well as the Compleat Horse Derby and then the South African Show Horse Championships in 2008. Christy's background includes a B.Sc. from Virginia Intermont in Equine Studies, 38 years of riding - 21 of them as a professional running her own business focused on the JR/YR show jumping athlete, as well as Junior Eq and Medal riders.
Joe graduated from the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, as a PoliSci major. I teach a lot regarding the training of gaited horses, and have developed a sharp eye for biomechanics of the horse. Combining the biomechanics of the horse, with the biomechanics of the rider is another field of interest for me. I train riders in becoming the best rider they can be for their horse. Julia plans to return to competitive Dressage and Showing with her homebred Anglo when the WOW business let’s her.
She has been leading the Australian arm of the WOW Saddles business for almost two decades providing support and solutions to clients and agents.
“I am gratified by the large number of clients I have retained since 2008” she says “and by the number of new customers they in turn bring into the WOW fold such is their faith in the service and product.”
Julia takes great delight in seeing WOW Saddles Australia clients from at least 6 states performing across multiples of disciplines including Dressage, Showing, Eventing, Show Jumping, Pony Club, Endurance, Horse Ball and Campdrafting while achieving successes with Championships at Regional, State and National Levels.

I have been a Wow saddle fitter ever since( some 20+ years) and my horse, who was stuck at Novice at the time managed to progress to Advanced!
I am now in the process of try to rise up the amateur dressage ranks with Sherman.
To me, the saddles are so versatile and changeable ,the workmanship is excellent and the support and help available if needed , is invaluable.
I cover a wide area, from Dovon in the west to Hampshire in the East and monthly I'm found in Swindon and the M4 corridor.

I have been working full-time for years on improving saddle comfort for both horse and rider. Sue lives in the Adelaide Hills in South Australia and horses have been intrinsic in her life since she
was a 5 year old.
She first discovered the saddles at the WOW Australia trade stand at ‘Equitana’ in Melbourne in
2010. WOW Aust fitter, Julia McLean arranged a visit to South Australia with her range of demo
saddles for her to try. There was no turning back!
The response in SA was overwhelming resulting in the need for a fitter in the area.
Sue had been involved in the equestrian community for many years through Equestrian Australia as a
competitor and then as a National and FEI official. She decided that training as a WOW fitter would
be a wonderful adjunct to her equine experience and has since established a client base of
enthusiastic WOW saddle advocates in SA.
She loves to follow the progress of her clients who range from FEI Dressage, Eventers and
Showjumpers to pleasure riders.
